No not really, I especially struggled with chemistry in secondary school. When I found out that I could apply chemistry to things that actually interested me I began to find it a lot easier. So I like chemistry that I can think about in terms of planet Earth and how it moves around the planet. The key to success is to just keep working at it and you will get there!

I really enjoyed physics and maths, but I wasn’t particularly good at exams in the subjects for a lot of my school career. I realised that the best way for me understand the concepts was by working through examples and being able to explain the concepts to someone else (my Mum had to put up with a lot of me telling her stuff!).

I worked hard at it and got the grades I needed to do what I wanted to do, but I certainly wasn’t a little Einstein!

Hello, it depends on what you mean by “good”! Did I like it? Yes I was interested in physics, but not biology, chemistry or maths! I found maths at school boring and knew I’d never use it again. That’s what computers are for. But it is important to understand what the maths is doing.

I’m rubbish at exams. I have failed lots of them! Everyone’s brain is different and I struggle to learn things off by heart like formulas. I do much better in project or practical assessments. If you want to become a scientist you need to pick a topic and I recommend finding a University course that includes as much project work, rather than exams, for assessment.

      I love this question!
Of course I improved gradually as no one was born knowledgeable! In general, the more you practice, read, study and have a passion, the better you become by the time. So, please don’t give up after several tries and this is the secret for any success you are aiming for. Never give up 👆
