Good question! Every now and then I see something really interesting (normally technology based!) where I say to myself, “It would be cool to be doing that!”.

The great thing about science though, is that it teaches you how to approach a problem in order to investigate and understand it, using the best tools you can apply to it, and know the limitations of your answer and what you’re trying to understand. You can take those skills and apply them to almost anything else in life.

I know trained scientists who are teachers, politicians, miners, canoe instructors and road builders!

There are many things that I like in life. I love music, sports, and science and wish I could study all three, but I only have one life so I had to chose something. What I actually did study was a combination of my interests and random events. For example for my masters degree I applied for universities in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Canada. I actually only got into the university in Norway, so that is where I went! Because I went to Norway I met a great professor who taught me the some interesting maths, which I use today in my job.
