Yes – I went on a job to work on a survey vessel surveying off Greenland in the early spring just as the icebergs were melting. It was a risky situation, but we took action to make it as safe possible, we had daily maps of the ice front mapped by satellite so we knew where it was and if any big pieces had come off, we had an ice-class boat (with a very strong hull) with radar to detect icebergs, a very experienced crew who had worked in the Arctic before and good plans for escape, survival (including weapons to scare off polar bears!) and rescue if we did get into any trouble.
