Our air is predicted to improve in the future and we are seeing a downward trend of pollution each year which is great. This is mainly due to improvements in technology. Petrol and diesel cars built today have to meet stricter emission limits than cars built previously so as the older cars on our roads get replaced with newer models our air quality subsequently improves. Additionally, our government have put a ban on car manufacturers producing new petrol and diesel cars by 2040 (although some are calling for it to be earlier – 2030). This means that electric vehicles will become more prevalent and they produce no tailpipe emissions. Whilst I can’t see into the future and have no idea what it will look like in 100 years time I would expect our air to be better!
